Porous Hybrid PVDF/BiFeO3 Smart Composite with Magnetic, Piezophotocatalytic, and Light-Emission Properties

The creation of multi-stimuli-sensitive composite polymer–inorganic materials is a practical scientific task. combination photoactive magneto-piezoelectric nanomaterials and ferroelectric polymers offers new properties that can help solve environmental energy problems. Using the doctor blade casting method with thermally induced phase separation (TIPS) technique, we synthesized hybrid nanocomposite porous membrane based on polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) bismuth ferrite (BiFeO3/BFO). We studied samples using transmission scanning electron microscopy (TEM/SEM), infrared Fourier spectroscopy (FTIR), total diffuse reflection, fluorescence microscopy, photoluminescence (PL), differential calorimetry (DSC), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), vibrating-sample magnetometer (VSM), piezopotential measurements. Our results demonstrate addition BFO increases proportion polar from 76.2% to 93.8% due surface ion–dipole interaction. also found sample exhibits laser-induced fluorescence, maxima at 475 665 nm depending presence nanoparticles in polymer matrix. Furthermore, our piezo-photocatalytic experiments showed under combined actions ultrasonic treatment UV–visible light irradiation, reaction rate increased by factors 68, 13, 4.2, 1.6 compared sonolysis, photolysis, piezocatalysis, photocatalysis, respectively. This behavior explained piezoelectric potential narrowing band gap mechanical stress caused ultrasound.
